The Importance Of Toddler Car Seats

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

KIDS IN CAR SEATSKeeping your baby safe in all ways is so important.  Strapping baby into the car the right way and looking after their general care is part of your everyday care.

Child car seats are not just the law; they are part of one’s duty as a sensible adult. Laws and regulations vary from state to state however the American Academy for Pediatrics (AAP) recommends particular minimum standards for car seat safe practices which are designed purely to make certain of the safety of your toddler or youngster while riding in a car. Car seats are intended to lessen injury in the occurrence of a car incident and they can when used and positioned the right way.

Baby Safety Gates Provide Safe Rooms For Outside of the Womb

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Even if you haven’t made the decision to have a family your acquaintances who have may have complained about the terrible twos.  The beautiful little child who has been so well-behaved for the past 24 months turns into a complete hellion with its curiosity, demands and destruction.  So what’s the key to this seeming unsolveable situation?  There’s really only one way around this test and that is to get some baby safety gates.  There are plenty of brands and designs to {pick from|select from|choose from} but among the most popular are toddler electrical cord and outlet safety products

You may feel that you have put your baby in jail.  After all, you are essentially keeping the baby locked up and locked out of spots where its nose and curiosity leads it.  However, it is no worse than the other confining spots you have subjected the baby to.  When you buy other valuable gadgets baby will need like child cribs you’ll want to be sure that the little one doesn’t destroy them by leaving them unprotected.

For example, safety gates are the next level after the play pen.  First the baby encounters screen from which it can’t escape.  To some extent it expects to be restricted in its actions so, complaints or not, the experience is not completely new.  It may as well get used to the idea because it’s going to be like this for quite a time.

Place the safety gates in the most suitable spots in your home.  You would think the eating area would be a place particularly frought with peril and an obvious place to protect the baby from.  It would provide safety for the infant from loose knives, expensive appliances, hot coffee, and hot ovens, not to mention the annoyance of getting in the way of Mom and/or Dad in the kitchen.  There are lots of things you’ll need in your kitchen, including Evenflo baby feeding products

Finally,  place safety gates to save your living room in all of its glory.  Everyone in the house will give thanks for the strategic placement of safety gates.

Baby Shower Centerpieces – A Must For Your Party

Cheap Baby Shower Invitation

If you have the special honor of hosting a baby shower for a friend or family member, you’re well aware that there are many important aspects and details that will need taking care of before the big day arrives. Making the baby shower centerpieces is one of those tasks that will definitely require a bit of creativity and some patience, but luckily, it isn’t one that has to cost a fortune either.

Edible Baby Shower Centerpieces

– Candy Topiaries: These can be made with styrofoam blocks and balls, with either plain or attractively decorated flower pots, cinnamon sticks, candy corn or other not too hard candies, and a glue gun.

– The Watermelon Buggy: If you’re feeling extra creative, carve a watermelon into the shape of a baby buggy or carriage, which actually isn’t as difficult as it first looks, and then fill with all sorts of delicious fruits such as grapes, melon balls, and cherries. Using a lettuce garnish as a base, you can add slices of orange plus cherries as a “hubcap” in the center.

Baby Shower Centerpieces – Non Edible

– Baskets: You should be able to find some nice baskets in your local dollar store, and select from these to use for your basket centerpiece. These can be gifts for the guests to take home, or more for the Mom-to-be herself. Remember to be creative when it comes to choosing a “basket,” as just about any type of container can be used as such.

Some fillers for the basket could include bottles, toys, socks, pacifiers, teethers, lotions, and bath toys, or if the centerpieces are for the guests, add candles, aromatherapy items, coupons for book stores, spas, and hair salons, as well as bubble bath, books, nail polish, chocolates, and useful items for the kitchen.

- Baby Sock Roses: Using simple vases, some artificial flowers, baby’s breath, floral wire, and several pairs of baby socks in the colors of your choice, you can easily make “roses” arranging them in the vases with the greenery. Each sock should be tightly rolled, with thinner socks working best, by starting from the toe, working towards the opening, and finished by fastening with double sided tape.

Experiment with rolling or folding the socks to achieve the desired look of petals, and then insert the floral wire and wrap the bottoms of the “flowers” in green floral tape before arranging in vases.

– Diaper Cakes and Wreaths: These old favorite baby shower centerpieces are still a good choice today. Just use your talents and imagination to be creative with the design. The idea could be used to make diaper cupcakes, also using either disposable or cloth diapers.

Other possibilities include stuffed animals with ribbons, balloons of varying colors, and flowers; all this can be mixed and matched. A cute plush toy can be transformed into a centerpiece with imaginative decoration, useing things like bibs, baby blankets, baby bottles and so on.

Painting and stenciling inexpensive flower pots can make great baby shower decorations. Just choose your own stencil designs and sayings for a unique decoration. Flowers from a florist can be costly, so on the day of the baby shower can could pick up a bouquet at the supermarket at a lower price. The bouquets can then be broken down and added to the painted pots, or placed singularly in clear glass vases.

Once you have made your decisions on a baby shower centerpiece then you can think about getting organized and sending out those baby invites.

Toddlers – the importance of drawing and coloring

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

To the casual observer a child who is drawing or coloring in,  is merely scribbling. The marks seem to be completely ramdom and meaningless. But there is much more happening in your young child’s mind as s/he engages in the physical act of drawing and coloring.

In fact, examining a child’s drawing gives us important insights into how drawing fits into the overall physical, emotional and cognitive development of the young child. From toddlerhood through primary school, children choose to draw and color, but the process starts much earlier – during toddlerhood.

At around the age of 18 months, toddlers become interested in scribbling. It seems to provide sensory enjoyment, but the child is also interested in the marks that are made. The act of scribbling can serve several useful purposes for the young child. Small muscle coordination (fine motor skills) and control improve with practice, cognitive abilities are exercised, opportunities for social interaction arise, and the physical movements provide emotional release.

Because a toddler’s small muscle control is not fully developed, he or she may approach the coloring sheet by grasping the marker with his or her fist and may well find it difficult to place the marks exactly where he or she wants them. Movements are typically large, involving the entire arm with very little finger or wrist control. This is because the pattern of physical development in children begins from the center of the trunk outward.

While full control will happen much later – in the short term the toddler will naturally improve his or her control. A few toddlers rest the forearm on the drawing surface to give them additional control. A rhythmic, repetitive, scrubbing motion is common among two-year-olds, providing sensory enjoyment and making drawing a very physical act.

By providing children with the materials and opportunities to scribble we can promote physical skills. Just as babbling is a natural way to gain language, scribbling is a natural gateway to muscle control and coordination.

From an intellectual viewpoint, toddlers are concerned with both the process and results of their art. They really do not intend to represent objects at first. Instead, they are concerned with color and line. However, they may look at the marks and scribbles they have made and, in surprise, recognize a shape and name it. While they may not have intended to draw a dog or tree, the scribbles suggest the shapes. Children interpret, rather than intend. This is called fortuitous realism and becomes common as a child approaches three years of age.

As a parent you can encourage your little one to draw and to color by offering him or her opportunities to do so.  Let them loose on blank sheets of paper or provide them with a coloring book or coloring sheets, many of which  are available online. Little boys may enjoy coloring images of  cars and trucks or of favorite characters such as Spiderman and at sites like Spiderman Coloring you’ll find Spiderman coloring as well as coloring pages, funny pics and more. For little girls search for coloring pages of princesses or fairies or anything else she may be interested in such as Disney characters or even trucks!

Remember to always supervise toddlers while they draw and color – due to the choking hazard that crayons pose.

How to Economize on Baby Shower Graphics

A digital scrapbook layout showing a varied us...
Image via Wikipedia

Even though the economy is bad at the moment, that doesn’t mean people still don’t want to be able to give memorable baby showers for their friends. The trick to doing this in a slow economy is to cut corners on aspects that won’t be noticeable. That can begin with the baby shower invitations and include the decorations and any scrapbooks created to commemorate the event.

One of the means to do that is to use good free baby shower clipart. Very often you can find cool free images online. Just search for “free baby shower clip art,” plus the type of image you want. For instance, if you’d like pink baby girl clip art, enter those words or some variation of them in the search box. That will work with almost any baby shower theme you can think of, although the more obscure the theme,

Fun Internet Activities for Toddlers

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Busy new mum can use these coloring links to occupy the older children.

My young nephew educated me about the fact that toddlers like online activities. As a matter of fact, he became Internet savvy at a very young age. The mouse didn’t intimidate him at all. His comfort with searching online was eventually accompanied by a real thirst to explore the online world.

His mother bookmarked all his favorites, so I went onto the sites and tried them myself. I enjoy them almost as much as my nephew does! Your children might also enjoy these fun activities.

Please note that some of the games and activities on some of the sites (or those linked from them) are for older children but plenty of them are perfect for toddlers.

Disney Preschool (http://home.disney.go.com/foryou/preschool/)
Disney offers a pre-schooler web channel, which is filled with fun videos to watch and music to listen to. They also have plenty of games, like The Great Sky Race, Inspector Ooh and Rhythms in the Warehouse. Kids can also enter the “worlds” of a variety of Disney characters, such as Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, Special Agent Oso, Little Einsteins (or “Iddle Dine-dines” as my nephew calls them) and many other kid favorites.

Learn What Baby Jogging Stroller Is Proper for You

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

Exercising is important for every person, and many mothers choose to jog for their daily exercising.  Trying to use a regular baby stroller can be rather difficult though, as they aren’t really easy to maneuver.  The point of your jogging is not to get your exercise from fighting with your baby stroller it is to get it from the actual jogging.  Developers have come up with a brilliant solution for the problem though with the design of baby jogging strollers, as they make it easy for you to push the stroller around and still keep your child in comfort.  There are so many different types of baby jogging strollers on the market that it is easy to become confused when you are shopping for one.  In truth there probably isn’t any real  wrong choice when it comes to these types of strollers, but there are some things that you need to know about them before you make your purchase.

Wheels

You’re going to find that the different styles of jogging strollers come with different wheel sizes: 12 inch, sixteen in, and 20 in.  The best choice for walking on smooth terrain unlike sidewalks and tracks, are the 12 inch wheels. The 16 inch wheels are better suited for walking and jogging on the same surfaces as the 12 inch wheels, but they can be used on more bumpy surfaces, like grass and smooth paths.  If you plan on jogging over a long distance or any type of rough terrain, then you are going to want to get a stroller with 20 inch wheels.

Materials

For the wheels and hubs of your baby jogging stroller, you should choose one that is made from an alloy instead of one that is made from steel.  You are not going to have the weight and rusting issues that you have with steel when you have wheels made out of an alloy.  alloys are a lot easier to take care of than steal and that they are much lighter.

The frame material is also important.  Some models have metal tubing that is only connected with plastic joint pieces, while others are made from aluminum and are welded at the joints.  You are going to want the latter for your baby jogging stroller.  The aluminum material allows the stroller to be much more lightweight anyway.

Swiveling wheels

Some baby jogging strollers also have swiveling wheels.  If you plan on using your jogging stroller like you would an ordinary stroller than this is the perfect choice for you.  The swiveling front wheels of the baby jogging stroller can also be locked so that you have the tracking and stability for jogging.

Safety harness

Probably the most critical part of any baby jogging stroller is the safety belt system installed for your child. This harness is what will keep your child safe while riding inside the stroller. The safety harness should be no less than a 5 point system. If by chance something happened when you’re jogging and you lost your hold on the stroller, you want to make sure that the safety tether attached to your wrist isn’t going to make the baby fly out of the stroller headfirst.

In addition to all of the points above, you are likely going to consider the price of the baby jogging strollers as well.  Baby jogging strollers will vary in their pricing.  Some things that influence the prices of baby jogging strollers are the brand names as well as the materials that they are made from.

There are so many diverse brands and styles of baby joging strollers out there today it sincerely does make the decision making difficult. Take a look at these listings of Baby Trend jogging strollers and you will see some truly state-of-the-art designs.

Are All Child Strollers And Car Seats Produced Equal? How To Pick The Good Ones

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

It isn’t as easy for us as it was for our parents when it comes to buying baby strollers and car seats.  Our parents did not have the wide selection of these items that we do to choose from as there were only a few makers.  There is such a wide variety these days that it can be very confusing on which models and makes to buy.  This article will give you some tips for choosing the baby strollers and car seats that are the best for you and your child.

The most crucial thing that you need to consider when it comes to selecting hese items is safety.  This applies to baby strollers and car seats.  Above all else comes the safety of our children. When looking at strollers and car seats you need to make sure that the manufacturers have put them through the gambit and they have tested true.  Every stroller should have an automatic lock that clicks into place when you unfold it so that when you put your child into it it doesn’t fold back up on them. The car seats should be governmental-backed, which means that it should be approved by the government to meet safety and law requirements.

Baby Strollers

For baby strollers there are a few things to consider. Check the stroller to find out how easy it is fold and unfold.  Some of the models on the market allow single handed operation, which is a real plus when you have a child in the other hand and do not wish to put him/her down.  The stroller must have brakes and make sure that they engage easily.  There are models that have brakes on the back wheel that engage with a simple flick from your foot.  The handle is the third thing that you should consider.  Baby strollers these days come with little trays that can hold the things that you need, like a hook for your purse and shopping bags, cup holders, and a place for your cell phone.  Finally, you should consider the material that the frame is made from. Is the stroller going to be strong enough to hold up under use or is it simply to flimsy for regular wear and tear.  Strollers that are made from stronger materials like steel and aluminum will fare much better than flimsier materials like plastic.

Car Seats

With car seats, you need to worry about what is going to work best for your child and yourself , besides the obvious issues of the childs safety.  There are car seats that are specifically designed for each stage of your child’s growth.  Rear-facing seats are to be used from birth to one year and 20 pounds.  For children of 1 year to 4 years your child needs to have a forward facing car seat. A booster seat is designed for older children in the age group of between 4 and 8 and under 4″9″” tall.  When your child outgrows that, they can sit in the car like older passengers and be buckled up in a regular seat belt.  For an all around seat that is designed for nearly all of the developmental stages, you will want to go with a style known as the convertible car seat.

In the end, you need to make sure that the car seat and baby stroller that you choose for your child is something that is easy to use for you, while providing safety and comfort for your child.  It should never be a difficult task to make use of your baby stroller or car seat.

8MTHS PREG

Identifying pregnancy will differ from woman to woman however, all wait for the delayed or missed menstrual cycle.  In a few women, the signs of conception start showing in the first week of impregnation itself.  However, in some other women, the symptoms may not come forth for a few weeks, if they ever come at all. Your doctor should be your first point of contact if your having pregnancy stages.

Following conception, approximately 6 to 12 days an embryo implants itself inside the uterus.  When this occurs a few women will have cramps and bleed a little.  Late or skipped periods are the most obvious sign; if you are sexually active and notice such a change in your regular cycle, you might want to take a pregnancy test. Phone your doctor if your having any questions about tubal pregnancy symptoms.
